How long do the appointments take?

Between 10 and 15 minutes. The injection/blood test will only take a couple of moments, but there will be some time before and afterwards to make sure you feel okay and to ask any questions before you leave.

Can I leave lectures to attend?

Yes, but make sure your lecturer is aware.

Can I have a copy of my vaccination records?

To request these, please kindly fill in our request form. Once completed, receipt can take up to one month, however, we endeavor to do this much faster for you as we understand and appreciate that you are likely requesting them due to starting a new job. If so, congratulations!

Do the vaccinations hurt, or will they make me ill?

The vaccinations themselves may be a little uncomfortable, but they should not be particularly painful beyond a short, sharp scratch. Our clinicians take the utmost care when administering the vaccinations to ensure they are as quick and pain free as possible. Whilst everyone may be affected differently by the vaccinations it is unlikely they will make anyone ill.

Does my immunity last forever?

This may not always be the case. While immunity for things like TB, chicken pox and whooping cough may last a lifetime. Some conditions like MMR and Hep B may reduce overtime. Boosters for protection against these conditions can be suggested depending on results of blood tests in some situations which can improve the levels of immunity again.

What vaccinations will I need?

This may vary depending on your course and current immunisations status. For detailed information on the types of immunisations you require please see the government Green Book: Green Book: Chapter 12 Immunisation of healthcare and laboratory staff

What if I faint or have a needle phobia?

Please try not to worry about this. It is always helpful to give us advanced warning if you have a phobia or faint regularly following vaccinations or blood tests. It is important to eat and drink before attending your appointments as this can sometimes be a factor in increasing fainting.
