Carbon Reduction Plan

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Innovate Healthcare Management Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be Measured.

Baseline Year: 2022

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

Emissions data had not been published in prior years therefore we selected 2019/20 as our base year. The methodology for measuring our carbon footprint is in line with the Greenhouse Gas protocol and the BEIS Environmental Reporting Guidelines. The calculations were completed on https://gbfcalc.azurewebsites.net/gbf/calc/ using the UK Government emissions factors.

Baseline Year Emissions:

Emissions Total TOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 1 2,882 kg CO2e
Scope 2 1,818 kg CO2e
Scope 3 Upstream T&D and Downstream T&D – not relevant
explanation provided (Innovate Healthcare Management Group Ltd Professionals is a professional services organisation in the UK that provide Occupational Health Services within the UK. We provide services rather than goods and, as such, transportation and distribution of goods are not relevant to us).
Total Emissions 4,700 kg tCO2e

Current Year: 2023

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

Our emissions data had not been published in years prior to 2022 as this hasn’t been a requirement or condition of tender opportunities, therefore we selected 2022 as our base year. We will update the results for the year 2023 later in the year and will continue to update our results annually thereafter.

The methodology for measuring our carbon footprint is in line with the Greenhouse Gas protocol and the BEIS Environmental Reporting Guidelines. The calculations were completed on https://gbfcalc.azurewebsites.net/gbf/calc/ using the UK Government emissions factors.

Emissions reduction targets

We have had no previous emissions reduction commitment.

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero by 2050 (from our base year 2022), we have adopted the following carbon reduction target.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next six years to 3656 tCO2e by 2028. This is a reduction of 77% from our base year (2022) and the projection is to reach net zero carbon by 2050. It is envisaged that carbon offsetting or technology such as carbon capture and storage will be deployed to achieve the difference between actual and net zero carbon.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Carbon reduction projects completed or in progress include:

  • Move to agile working that has resulted in reduction of company business travel especially, commuting
  • Reduced dependency on office space through agile working
  • Closing the central hub two (2) days per week
  • Move to a office with a 50% smaller footprint
  • Introduction of a ‘virtual first’ approach to consultations and treatment services (where clinically possible)
  • Move to fully virtual model for business meetings in locations more than 60 minutes travel time away
  • Installation of energy efficient lighting and auto switch on/off lights
  • Building management systems have been upgraded to reduce energy usage
  • Our office runs off 100% renewable energy and 100% of waste on site is recycled.
  • Completed a Sustainability Opportunity assessment that will help us to build and
  • implement our corporate sustainability strategy

In the future we hope to implement further measures including (not limited to):

  • Working towards ISO 14001 implementation that will result in certification in Q4 of 2023
  • Interventions to reduce power consumption focussed on air conditioning, building
  • fabric, insulation, space heating, ventilation and hot water
  • Feasibility study for onsite renewable energy sources through solar panel installation
  • Feasibility study exploring the use of using electric vehicles for company business (expected to conclude Q4 of 2023)
  • Purchase of 100% renewable energy
  • Continue to develop and enhance our digital and virtual capability
  • Evaluation of all clinical and non-clinical purchased products with specific plans for
  • more efficient use such as reducing single use plastic, switching from disposable to
  • reusable equipment and reducing use of paper
  • Using low carbon substitutions where possible
