Our multidisciplinary approach

Innovate’s Management Referral service helps you to understand how someone’s health is impacting their work and how someone’s work may be impacting their health.

We use a multi-disciplinary including OHAs, OHPs ,Mental Health Nurses and Physiotherapists. This means we can allocate a referral to a clinician with specific clinical expertise which is important when you consider that 86% of referrals are someway linked to Mental Health or MSK.

In addition to mitigating risk, our expert clinical team use a biopsychosocial approach to de-medicalise the situation and explore all the barriers that may be preventing someone returning to work, remaining in work or perform optimally. Our outcome reports will provide you and your employee with specific and individually tailored practical advice and recommendations to help facilitate a safe and successful and sustained return to work through effective management referral services.

How management referrals work

Management referrals start with a submission through our secure online portal, Meddbase. As part of the process of management referral services, referrers choose and book the most appropriate date and time for the appointment which is confirmed immediately. Next, the consultation takes place which involves the clinician reviewing the referral, any additional information and a thorough discussion with the colleague.

Finally, the clinician will release a comprehensive management referral report which will summarise the discussion and evidence review, provide tailored advice and recommendations for the colleague to consider as well as providing you with targeted adjustments for consideration (where relevant to do so).

Our service delivery process

The following are the steps involved in delivering our services:

  • Management referrals are submitted through our secure online portal, Meddbase.
  • Referrers choose the required service and their preference between video or telephonic delivery.
  • When filling in the referral form, we ask referrers to provide as much factual information as possible and for details of adjustments already tried (and the outcome) and if the colleague has access to support services, for example, EAP
  • If applicable, supporting documentation can be uploaded directly into the referral before progressing to choose and book the appointment.
  • The last stage of the process is to launch the live clinical diaries and choose the most appropriate date and time for the consultation (once booked, this is confirmed immediately)
  • Referrers will be notified when the report is ready to view and can access this through a secure link into Meddbase. Our management referral services provide a comprehensive solution for managing referrals, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from start to finish.

Management referral outcomes

We will confirm attendance through an automated system notification, and shortly afterwards, the referrer will be notified that the report is ready to view. If the staff member fails to attend (DNA) their appointment, we will inform the referrer and seek guidance on how to proceed (cancel the referral, hold the referral or re-book the appointment, for example). Occasionally, colleagues ask to see the report before it is released. If this is the case we will let the referrer know and confirm the date and time they can expect to see the report (which is released automatically by the system). Our management referral services provide a comprehensive solution for managing referrals, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from start to finish.
